Fridge Friends: The Summer of Serendipity

The luckiest 2,000 square feet in Austin.

(Very) Warm Salutations, Fridge Friends

School is out, and summer arrived with a literal bang… We hope your yards and homes escaped the storms unscathed. The raging winds made for an exciting interlude at our beer tasting with Hi Sign Brewing, and unexpectedly trimmed our heritage pecan trees. Luckily, our 104-year-old house (and windows!) continue to stand the test of time… much like our relationship with you, dear Raider.

Going to be a lighter pecan harvest this year.

In this issue: Two for Tuesday-coffee & wine, Fridge Friends Forever, Several Summer Sips, School of Poker, School at Poker, the Lifestyle Investor, and a call for watch gearheads.

Wait, what’s this? This is the once-a-month newsletter from Austin’s luckiest entrepreneur club, the Red Fridge Society. You can always unsubscribe here.

Top of the Fridge

  • Summer of Serendipity: I’m headed off to Portugal with the family this week as part of our Portuguese golden visa process. Two years ago, when we were last in Portugal, my daughters and I developed the concept for the Red Fridge Society. This trip, we’re reimagining how to build the Fridge Friends community into the luckiest founder group in Austin. Stay tuned!

  • Caffeinated Conversation We’ve got a spot or two this Tuesday at our coffee tasting.

  • Bon Voyage Vino: Before I head out on my family vacation, we’re doing a member/guest happy hour on Tuesday with some silly wines. Want to be my guest?

  • Summer Sips. We have a member-led (JohnD!) Summer Tropicale in June, and we have our larger community happy hour on the calendar in August.

  • Watch This. We're discussing watch collection and investment for our September “Wine &” series. Gearhead? We’re looking for an additional panelist.

  • Get Luckier. Want to try out the Society and create your own luck with our community of founders? We’re now accepting applications.

  • Poker School. A few members wanted to brush up on their skills before the next tourney, so we’re bringing back our poker school and novice tourney so you can lose your money with confidence.

  • School at Poker. Speaking of which, our next quarterly 36 Founder Poker Tourney is already on the calendar for August 28th. Founders new to the game get a seat. Grab yours!

C’mon, you can beat these guys in poker (although apparently I can’t)

What’s Fresh in the Fridge?

With many of our members escaping the Texas heat, our summer programming primarily features smaller, more intimate events for our members and their guests. Still, we always have room for some Raiders. You can check out our entire calendar, but here are some featured events. Note that “Founder Only” events are limited to founders past or present and start on a waitlist.

Bring Serendipity Into Your Summer

  • Join Austin’s Luckiest Entrepreneur Space. Have you been on the fence but want to try out the Society? We are now accepting applications for new Fridge Magnates.

  • Although the ridiculous amenities, meeting rooms, and coworking are all great reasons to join, the community is the primary value driver of the Red Fridge Society. Our brand promise is that you’ll have a conversation at the Fridge in the first six months, which will pay for the first two years.

  • Memberships start at $850/month. You can apply here.

  • Want to come check out the Fridge but can’t make an event? You can grab an hour on Chris’s calendar to get a tour.

May Leftovers

I hope you made it to one of our 11 events in May. We covered a WIDE range of topics: Multiple coffee conversations, a Hill Climbers podcast taping, wine tastings, beer founder stories, THE poker tournament, AHS’ Speech and DeBanquet, a Culturati conversation, and our Robot Happy Hour. Whew. I need a vacation.

AI-pertif. Our Spring robot-themed happy hour was popular with humans.

Beer tasting, crazy founder stories, and 80 mph winds with Mark Phillippe from Hi Sign Brewing

We are proud sponsors of the Anderson High Speech and Debate team. Go Trojans!

Courageous leadership was discussed with Brian Johnson and the Culturati advisory board.

That’s a wrap for our June newsletter.

Be cooler than necessary, and I hope to see you Fridge-side soon.
